Last Day of the Month… Starting School Soon.

May 31, 2006 · Leave a Comment

OK. It is FINALLY the last day of the month and I have FINALLY received my results. Yes, I passed and am moving on to my second year, which is just around the corner, happening within five days time. Yippee!!! I am so excited. Not.

I got a call from my piano teacher and she told me that HOD of Keyboard Studies is putting me with another teacher, some male with a doctorate. Help!!! I do not want to move from Ms Lim!!! I wonder why. Anyway, wahhhhhh…!!! What am I to do? I am going to tell Mrs Phua that I am not moving. So there. Humph!

Sigh… I must make sure I do better for the new semester and I must save my money for my October holidays. Sigh… It will be a battle of wills especially during this Great Singapore Sale. Sigh… The new academic year is going to be killer, with only 9 months. NINE MONTHS, 9, mind you. Sigh… May God help us all.

New glasses, new student.

May 21, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Right. As I had mentioned in my last post, I said that I will write a little something on my new pair of glasses. It is rather lame of me to actually do this typing…

While at the optical shop trying on my new glasses, I realised that the colours matched my hair; brown and black and it is frameless. Haha! I am rather happy now even though it feels a little funny for my eyes due to the change in degree. I must remember to tell RK to stop using the visualizer or else get the school to change it to something will visualised a clearer image or else most of our eyes will be suffering due to the undue strain. Paid up the remaining amount of $55, leaving me with a few dollars and cents in my long wallet. Sigh… I am going to be broke this month. What am I talking about? I am already broke! Looks like I have to wait very patiently for the 25/28 of the month to arrive. For those people who have no idea what I am talking about, I am not going to tell you. Blah! :P

Well, after collecting my glasses, Mother dear and I took a walk to Suntec City to buy the Norton Antivirus 2006 software from Carrefour. Another $36+ is spent like that. Fortunately, Mother had her Credit Card with her and paid on my behalf. Thus, I will just have to pay the card bill when it comes next month.

Met my new student this morning who is a Primary 1 kid. Sadly, she and her aunt came late. A quiet child who hardly talks or even smiles. In my opinion, this is quite a sad case. What I find funny is that her brother, who came too with his aunt and grandmother, was more cheerful than his sister. Oh well, I hope that music will be able to help her in any possible way. Speaking about her, my boss called me this evening and asked whether I can take on another student on Sunday which I “happily” agreed. Looks like I had better take out my grade 5 theory stuff and get myself prepared for the kid. Yea. This kid wants to sit for the Grade 5 Theory Exam but I do not know which exam this kid wants to sit for. Hopefully, the kid will take the one next march because for him/her to sit for the October exam will be a little too rush. Think about it. June, July, Aug., Sep., Oct., About five months to prepare. I should instead say that it is TOO RUSH. I hope the kid realises it.

Alright. I should be in bed now because I am really tired and my eyelids are already falling. Night-night! :)

This Week

May 18, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Another hot day with the sky showing signs of crying, but it did not. This is going to be one long post.

Went with me papa to JB this morning. Left the house at about 9.50am but missed the 10am bus. Thus, we had to wait for another 15mins. Took TIBS/SMRT bus service 966 all the way to Marseling (is this how you spell it?) MRT. The journey took 45mins. I had to use the toilet at the MRT because of the known fact that anyone who wants to use the toilet over there across the Causeway will have to pay 20sen. I wonder why the Colonial masters called it ‘Causeway’. Anyway, we took another TIBS/SMRT bus service 950 to get to the Customs, crossed the bridge and got to that side. The queues at the M’sia Customs were really short, thus the service was really fast. Haha! That is what you get on a non-school-holiday weekday. However, the number of vehicles entering, mostly cars, were just as many as on any given weekend. Dots to those people who want to drive in and pay that RM20 (did they reduce the charge?).

After we came out of the Customs, our first stop was to find a shop selling computer software located very near City Square. I had to get the Norton Antivirus 2006, which I eventually did. Unfortunately, after installing it about an hour ago, a message pops out saying that I have purchased a pirated copy. Now, why was I surprised at the message? Gave my good brother a call to tell him of this problem and he told me to check out Carrefour at Suntec City (not too sure about the one at Plaza Singapura) for the original copy of the Antivirus software which is selling at half-price for students who present their Student’s Pass. I will definitely check it out on Sunday with my financier a.k.a Mummy after I have collected my new glasses from Bugis, which I will share with you, my dear readers, more about it a little later on. Yes, as I was saying… So, we found the place and Daddy paid RM6 for the now obsolete disc.

Next stop, Komtar for some grocery shopping and then back to City Square for me to hunt down my Japanese-translated-Chinese comic. The shop is located on either the highest level or the second highest. Where ever it is, it is on the same floor as Popular Bookstore but is at the opposite corner. Oh yes! I bought another Korean movie VCD; “My Sassy Girl”. Plan to watch it tonight but may have to shelve it for another day due to my already-falling eyelids.

Then we came home. The one thing good about travelling on a “long distance” bus is that I get a chance to nap/sleep. Yes, I fell asleep on the bus home. Finally reached home at 3.15pm. A really short trip.

16th May 2006, Tuesday.
Enx and I arranged to meet near the Bugis Village MacDonald’s at 1+++pm. She had to go back to school for a short while in order to submit a Leave Application Form (for more details, click on Enx under Links). We had a nice little Merry-go-Round there at the arranged meeting place. You see, I called her on my hand phone because I did not see her there. She answered and told me that she was already there. It was only when I turned around and took a few steps forward when we saw each other. What an exciting game…

We went up to the optical shop where my cousin used to work and spent quite some time there, poring over the different types of frames and trying them on. Actually, it was I who did a lot of ‘trying-on’ as I wanted to get a new pair of glasses. I finally settled on a quite funky brown rim-less pair and after some help at bargaining from Enx, the sales girl let me have that 1 pair of frames, 1 pair of some special lenses which I do not know how to explain well since it was Enx who did the explaining to me, and another pair of ‘normal’ lenses, at $105. Amazing… A world of difference from what I saw from another optical shop near my home. My original plan was to buy the frames from an upstairs shop in Bugis Street and then go back to that optical shop to get the lenses done. Oh well… What is done is done. Haha! J I cannot wait to collect it on Sunday.

After that, we walked to Bugis Street as Enx wanted to see the frames that I was eyeing. Sadly, the shop was closed when we got there. The funny thing was that it was due to open at 3pm and it was exactly 3 when we got there. Haha! From there, we walked to Maybank, which is opposite the National Library, as I wanted to withdraw some money in order to pay for my glasses. We then walked to Bugis Junction and got ourselves a glass of something from a restaurant. She had Iced Chocolate while I had a Kiwianana OJ; made of Kiwi, Banana and Orange Juice. It was worth it; $3.90 w/o GST and service charge, especially on such a hot day. I made myself happy by buying three computer games. Unfortunately, I have to get some sort of 3D card in order to play one of the games. A game that I find highly amusing is Mall Tycoon 2 Deluxe where the player gets to build and manage his/her own shopping mall/centre or else can choose to play a Scenario where the player can choose the task. Interesting yet frustrating as I found out only yester eve that I have poor business sense. Sigh… Must build up my mall and get at least $1000 in profits.

Cheerio and I will blog again. Soon.

Clubbing-virgin…

May 11, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Squeezy, stuffy, smoky. These are the three words that I am using to describe my first experience at clubbing. My poor throat… Ordered a bottle of beer, good ol’ beer, Heniken , no less, in order to quench my parch throat after breathing in all of that horrid cigarette smoke. One for one from 11 to MN. ZQ got the other bottle while those two girls i.e. Juls and Char got themselves a glass of Orange vodka each. Vodka is bitter and this place really served vodka. Whatever it was, Char drank it down a little too quickly, which caused her body tempertature to rocket. She was really hot and I had to use my beer bottle to cool her face. Anyway, I will not be surprised if I die of lung cancer on one fine and sunny day. We danced away in a truly packed room for roughly half hour before finding it too hot and squashy to dance/move around properly before moving back to the main area to “chill(?)”. Shared a free drink, Bourbon Coke, with Juls while those two shared a Lime vodka. Bourbon Coke is sweet and the taste reminds me of Tia Maria, and Lime vodka is bitter. Ewww… *shivers with (fill in the blank)*

I sustained a few minor bumps on the head due to 2 reasons: 1) That guy elbowed my head while he danced away happily, and 2) I AM TOO SHORT. *dots to that guy… hope he is having a hang-over right now* Thankfully, the bumps “wore off” after a few minutes.

We finally parted ways at 3 a.m. with Juls heading home to the Bishan/Thomson Rd area and us towards Joo Chiat. Yes, yes… ZQ and Char came home with me to rest and refresh before they went home a few hours ago. We had mince-meat noodles at the 24 hours stall/shop(?) nearby for our first meal of the day. Haha! :P

After effects: Sleepy, tired feet and very smelly clothes and hair. I had to wash my hair at 4 in the morning.

So, should I go clubbing again since I know the effects of it all? Hmmm… Let’s see whether I am capable of talking my parents around it. Yes, yes, yes… I “snuck” out of the house. I mean, c’mon, they are not home, until this coming saturday, and nothing did happen to me at the club. So, praise be to God for keeping me safe! Thank you.

:)

End of School. Beginning of Holidays.

May 3, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Right. Exams ended yesterday with the last one being practical, which was quite horrid, in a way. You see, of course you do not see, my first one and the half pieces, which were JS Bach’s Invention 2 in C minor and the first movement of Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 49 No. 2, were played/performed quite horrendously. There were missing and wrongly played notes. What was even better, five bars were missing during the first movement. Thanks to God for allowing the second movement and the Mendelssohn piece to be alright. What was worst, I was the first candidate for the day!!! Aargh…!

Anyway, we three girls (minus Baby Enx) and those two guys (minus LH) went for lunch together. However, Jules did not join us for a full meal, she had a side dish of mushrooms, as she had an “appointment” with her mother for a sushi buffet after.

After that, Char and I went off to Orchard to let off some steam with a bout of (window) shopping. Haha! But first and foremost, we went to do something not-so-crazy i.e. pierce earholes. I now have three piercings on my left earlobe while she has two. I tell u this. It was painful. Oh well… What were we expecting? Ant bites? Hah! After that, we went walking around. By the time I finally got home, it was already 6pm.

My parents will be off on their trip soon, leaving poor little me all alone, with the dog. However, I will be off to my brother’s place to do some baby-sitting which is due to the fact that the boy is more than a handful to handle. Which reminds me of something i.e. it was his first birthday celebration last Friday. He knew there was something special about the day, resulting in him not wanting to have his nap. That’s my boy. Haha!

I have no idea how on earth I will be spending my hols. Any suggestions, people?

I shall stop here now. Toodles!
