this sucks.
January 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment
nothing much to blog about except that i had passed my basic theory test (btt) yesterday evening on my very first try. however, i failed twice during the e-trial test. maybe it was so because i was rushing through 2 of those trial tests within half an hour. haha! anyway, i checked my answers once through before submitting it electronically. whew! for the next three months, i will have to focus on the final theory test (ftt) while juggling my daily schoolwork. blah. oh! speaking of the ftt, i had to return to comf*rt driving centre this morning in order to register for the ftt. why could they not have a electronic registration programme for private candidates? why must they knock off work at 8pm? [i finished the test at about 8.30pm.] damn… when i got there, i had to wait for about 20mins even though there were only 4 people in the queue as there was only one person manning the counter. it was only about 15mins later that another staff came in. hence, there were two counters opened. in all, i waited for 20mins and was served for less than 5mins. this sucks. *pfffffffffffft…* :p thank goodness the malay girl who served me was a friendly one, unlike missus grouch next door who served me the last time.
two pieces of homework to complete, one of which involves the skills of crapatology while the other requires a keyboard or very accurate inner hearing. and both are due on friday. sigh… i have not even started on either. infact, i have been procratinating. damn. i am going to be quite dead by friday. which reminds me…
chamber choir will be heading to the singapore conference hall (sch [school! lol!]) in the evening for a rehearsal with the singapore chinese orchestra (sco). the maestro came down on monday to listen to us sing and help us along with the articulation and others, pointing out this and that, etc. and he did all he could to help us paint a picture of the 1930s shanghai. he marched, danced, sight-read the music on the piano and even sang for us! he was funny. and, of course, we laughed and did our best. the first impression i had of him was that he reminded me of enx’s dad. it was more of the face, really. well, there will be one more rehearsal on friday morning (the usual chamber choir timeslot) before we go to the other end of shenton way. must find out how to get there by bus.
went to chinatown with the girls on monday. met mum there. in fact, she came because that was the only day i was free in the afternoon. walked around, bought stuff (my backpack was about to burst!) and looked at the sights. two others joined us; enx’s younger sister and char’s dummer. we later went our separate ways, but juls stuck to me and my mum until she wanted to go home. that was when we very much left her near the bus stop. and so, the pussy-willows had been bought, the basket is filled with goodies and there should be enough drinks in the refridgerator. what is left is only putting up the decorations and the long red banner. yup yup. what do i look forward most at cny? counting my $$$. what do i look forward to most at this cny? my nephew and niece. i miss those little ones… :l oh well… will see them soon.
time for me to brush my teeth and wash my face. and i must remember to print out the general music programme syllabus for secondary 1 and 2 today. must remember.
sweet dreams!

Tired
January 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Tired… So tired… It is the end of the second week back in school and I am tired, both physically and mentally. I am so weak… The thought of all the assignments is enough to cause me stress. I wonder how am I going to finish all of them blasted things. Gosh! I need my drug: Sleep. I love it. I love Sleep. The week after CNY will be a very hectic week, especially towards the end of the week; with rehearsals then performances, to teach and practice, then the mock exam on the monday after. Yes. Mock exam for my batch. What a killer… Ahhh… The strain. Blah.
Stop here.
did she? did she not?

school’s in
January 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment
school’s in. it started on monday, the 14th. the workload is starting to pile up, considering it has only been 2 days of school. the ironic part is, like last semester, my school timetable is quite empty, meaning that i am at school for an average of 3hours each day. looks like they, the lecturers, want us students to make full use of our spare time doing our assignments. maybe that is why they are our lecturers.
chorus and chamber choir are having such interesting projects for this semester. chorus will be singing for the ‘chingay festival’ in a few weeks’ time and then in april, for nafa’s 70th anniversary celebrations, beethoven’s 9th symphony a.k.a “ode to joy”. how joyous… as for chamber choir, we have a performance with the singapore chinese orchestra (sco) on valentine’s day at the esplanade concert hall for the ‘huayi festival’. yes, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. on valentine’s day. so, it’s ‘boo-hoo’ to all lovers in chamber choir and hooray for the singles as it will be the first time we get to perform there. yippee!!! we had performed at the nus’ cultural centre and at the victoria concert hall. and now, it’s the esplanade concert hall!!! hooray! how exciting. and tiring. immediately after the valentine’s day performance, us in chorus will have to work for another two days on the ‘chingay’ one. yawn… and i have to teach on the sunday after that. tiring.
the assignments are starting to roll in… in fact, snowballing. especially with history. as part of our assignment, we have to write and then perform our own cadenzas from a self-chosen concerto. oh my… the composers of our chosen works will probably roll in their graves after we are done mutilating their works. let’s all have a snowball fight! speaking of snowballs, did any of you realized that entering nafa campus 3 is like going to another country in the winter? i will not be surprised if it suddenly snowed in there. i mean, it is so damn freaking cold!!! one needs gloves, a scarf, woolen cap, fleece or woolen jackets, snowboots (if it snows), boots and layers of clothes. brrr… not only that, singapore is in a semi-state of being frozen over. the wind is chilly. the storms are freaky. lighting and thunder at almost every 5 seconds. lashing rains. *shivers*
well, got to go off now. mum’s nagging.

The IJ School in Japan

To my fellow true-blue IJ girls…
Check out this site which I had just found. Never mind the language difficulties. Check out the photos. Enough said. They have two sets of uniform designs, one each for the hotter and colder months.

Yes. It is the IJ school in Japan. Marvel… I still am. Had been looking for them for a long time since 2000. Blah. Shall type more the next time. Ja-ne!

Spring
January 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Red and white. What do these two colours remind you off? National Day? Yeah… Along those lines. How about flower designs? What does it mean? Spring? Some sort. To cut it short, I chose this theme because it reminds me of the Lunar New Year a.k.a Spring Festival a.k.a the Chinese New Year (CNY), which will soon be here on the 7th of February, which is about 30 days from now. There are some places that have already set up their CNY decorations and other places are already selling CNY goodies. Gosh! Chinatown will be packed especially during the night. Therefore, I will only want to do my shopping there during the day. I very much had enough with the night jostling, squeezing and being like sardines during those night shopping with my mum years ago… I can remember vividly the feeling of being squashed while trying to get from on end of the street to the other. Blah. Oh well… I shall be happy and look forward to counting my ang-pows come February the 7th.
Right. Enough ranting. Time to watch something. Haha!!!
Neko: I just changed my blog skin. Happy now??? :p

Crazy, crazy… Post-Christmas
January 3, 2008 · 3 Comments
[Photos: (left to right) The personalised brownies Juls baked for us, "modeling" the brownies, Amy & Juls, the cheesecake WX bought, cutting-the-cake "ceremony", slightly formal shot, starting to clown around the Christmas tree in our Aussie tees, clowning in progress, happy shot with Amy.]
As the photos show, we girls were a little crazy. I invited a few schoolmates over for dinner on the last friday of 2007 and, well, the evening was a little crazy even though we did not have any alcohol-intake. Waha! The day started off on a busy note with me chopping and preparing the ingredients for dinner before rushing out to Ahmanda’s for lunch with the Co. After four hours, I was back home with Mum in the kitchen. I was so busy that I could not go out to meet those two at Eunos MRT. Instead, I gave them verbal instructions on how to walk to my place. And then, they got nearly lost. Oops! Waha!!! What a horrible host I was… Blah!
Anyway, I went out to find them. Everyone else got here safely. Lol! The evening was … hmmm … Basically, I was on the verge of “killing” someone for hidding his gift from me under the basket’s cover, making me panic like crazy. Thanks ah… I gave those girls t-shirts bought from Melbourne. Hence, the photo. Haha!
AhMa & Co. gathering at Ahmanda’s was, how shall I put it, errm… Surprising. Yup. Mainly for two reasons. 1. All of us turned up. Mind you, ALL. It had never happened before in the history of all AhMa & Co. gatherings. Never. Until that day, the 28th of December, 2007, Friday. 2. People who tend to forget things such as turning up for an event or gathering actually brought presents!!! Not only that, the presents they gave were very much individually thought off. How sweet… Aww… And I am/was not being sarcastic. It was really nice and sweet of them. *Sob!* I wonder when will we all 10 get together again… *Sniff!*
OK. These are the things I got for Christmas. How exciting to review them!!! Hee.
From…
Kor – Josh Groban ‘Noel’ CD, Da-sao – Jean Perry set of hand towels, Mum – lots of stuff, Godma – set of Casis rose products from The Body Shop and from my cousin – small box of Meiji choc.
Jem – (tikam-tikam) small white bear, Ahmanda – Sleeping Ryoma (from PoT) soft toy, Ching – Brown bag with design of a dog and Paua shell pendant on fisherman’s string, Evan – (tikam-tikam) box of foreign chocolates, Wen – purple face towel (???), Lisa – Key-shaped hair clips and a voodoo doll mobilephone strap, Saru – box of candle and candle holder (I got this after swapping with Evan. Hee!)
Char – Hand-painted candle holder/dish from Tasmania, Enx – 2 small boxes of Meiji chocs, Juls – personalised slice of Brownie (!!!) Amy – shower gel. WX bought cheesecake to share with us during dinner. That was sweet of him. Cheesecake cheesecake!!! Yum.
In terms of presents, I am happy. In terms of the spirit of Christmas, I am over the moon. Happy, happy… Crazy, crazy.
Now waiting for this semester’s timetable to be put up. Blah.
By the way, Happy New Year!!! May this new year of 2008 be much better than the last. God bless.
