Something Funny

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Something that I found funny happened on Friday afternoon after lunch as WeiJun and I were walking up the stairs to the Staffroom to collect our bags before going home. Like I said, we were walking up the stairs as a group of girls were walking down and they greeted us, “Good morning, teachers”. I continued up the stairs and, just to make sure, I checked my watch before replying, ” Good afternoon, girls”. Yes. With special emphasis on ‘afternoon’. WeiJun later suggested that the girls were probably “programed” to greet all teachers with “good morning”. Well, we knew it was not so. They were just too used to using that greeting and absent-mindedly used it. Lol!

Well, a new week begins soon and I will meet the other music teacher who was on M.C last week. Well, I hope I will be able to learn more this week. Yawnz… Ought to turn in soon. But I want to watch ‘Pushing Daisies’ on Channel 5. Hmmm.

Y School Experience

June 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was supposed to blog about my first day at Y School yesterday evening. Unfortunately, I fell asleep before I could do so as I was exceptionally tired by two points: 1. I woke up really early and, 2. there is something about schools that makes the place so hot and humid that it drains the being. So far, I found one person who agrees with me on the second point. Well, let me try to recall what happened yesterday. Ahh yes…

My pair of black flats did a reverse-crocodile when I was walking to the bus stop yesterday morning. How unlucky. And so, I was physically dragging my heels when we, the newbies, were given a tour of the school building after the morning assembly which we were introduced to all. Once it was free time, I quickly went to the stationery store to buy some strong glue. Sadly, when I got there, the cupboard was, metaphorically, bare i.e. the store was not opened. Hence, I went to the General Office to ask the Indian Lady there as to the opening time of the store and when I told her my problem with my shoes, she quickly offered to lend me a pair after finding out my shoe size as she happened to have another pair of sandals with her. Heaven be praised! And so, I was “saved”. I have yet to thank her properly. Must do it soon. Anyway, I observed one lesson that day with a music teacher whom I supposed is my C.T. I felt quite strange when she asked me to share with the class about the O’Level music programme I took up years ago. In fact, I was helping to promote the programme. Yay. I had very much plonked myself down on the sofa in the teachers’ lounge (???) for most of the morning before I was introduced to the other music teacher in the other staffroom who had an empty table besides her. Yay!!! I had a table! :D

Moving on to today’s events… I had quite a lazy morning without any classes to sit in. Thus, I went walking around with another trainee teacher and a relief teacher. Oh! I moved into my space/desk today! Hee!!! I had another sit-in/observation lesson with my C.T this afternoon where I helped out in walking around when the kids had to practice their basic keyboard skills on the electric keyboards. It was interesting. Oh! The school’s programme is to let all students be able to play basic songs on the keyboard and, of course, be able to read music. This is something one do not see that often. Because the class was rather rowdy, C.T so-called punished them by extending their lesson time by 15mins. Not to worry. Their lesson was the last one for the day. After that, it was another induction for us newbies at 2.45pm. It was supposed to end at 4.35pm but it was delayed/prolonged till 5pm. The teachers had much to talk/share with us. Yawn…

I will be having quite a pack day tomorrow morning. Lucky girls of Y School… They do not need to come to school until 8am unlike us teachers who must be in at about the usual time of 7.20am. Yawn.

Right. I have to organise abit of things around… Good night!

Dear Ms A…

June 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A little something I wrote* (edited) to Ms A just now to which she replied rather quickly. However, I will only post my email to her.

Dear Ms A,
I am MAC and I hope you remember me from wednesday morning’s School Induction (18th June 2008).
Firstly, I like to thank both you and Mrs B for giving the Induction as going through the two segments as what both of you said somehow brought me down memory lane during the four years I had spent there at X School three years ago. I am also thankful to Mrs C for that small bit of introduction made to us Trainees before the start of the Induction programme and that she took some time to show us around the school. I must sincerely say that although the physical structure of X School has not changed, it is the soul that has changed. I am most happy and proud to know that X School and the girls had achieved so much during these years.
Secondly, I am most unfortunate to inform you that, perhaps, you already do know, I will not be able to join X School for the four weeks SE with effect 23rd June 2008 as I had recently been transferred to another Catholic girls school not very far away. On my part, I am deeply sadden to receive such news from the Source this late afternoon as I was dearly looking forward to being back in my alma mater. However, as the sudden turn of events is a definite sign from God Most High, I shall gladly accept His Will and take this transfer as a learning experience which I am sure there still are differences albeit the apparent similarities i.e. ‘Catholic’ and ‘all girls school’. With this new experiece to share, and with God’s grace, I do hope to have another shot at coming back to X School next year for the practicum.
And so, once again, I thank you for all you had done, including that time in March when I requested to be posted back to X School.

Forward X School!

Thank you, take care and may God bless you.

M. :)

Angry, Annoyed and Aching

June 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m both angry, annoyed and aching.

The first matter. I spent 4 years of my life at X School and I was looking forward to spending another 4 weeks at X School. I attended the Induction programme yesterday morning where I found out a mistake regarding my specialized subject; it’s supposed to be Music but the details X received was Art. Alright. I had it corrected by ringing up the Source when I got home. And the Source later called me in the evening that they had corrected the mistake by faxing the correct details to X. I called X in the morning and, yes, they received the fax and had passed it to the person-in-charge. All was well. Or so I thought. I received a call from the Source in the late afternoon, telling me that I had been transfered to Y School because X School couldn’t accomodate me. WTH!!! “Why not? There’s another girl from the Bach. prog. during music too!”, I asked and the Source replied, “Oh! Because she’s there only for observation but not for teaching, and you will be doing some teaching in the later half…” What the … … Complete dots. And so, there goes my dream of being back at X School. As the saying goes, ‘Never count your chickens until they hatch’.  Looks like I got to ring up Y School tomorrow morning and hopefully be able to go down and meet the In-Charge of pract. there. Got to go do my homework; like how to get to the school which I found out requires 2 buses to get to it’s doorstep, who’s the principal and vice-principal, what’s the addy and telephone number, etc. And school’s starting on monday. 3 days to go!!! How annoying. Gah…

The second. My left thigh muscle is aching, or sore. It maybe due to putting too much stress on it while using the clutch pedal. Blah. Uncle Tan wasn’t in Sg today and so, Mr. So-and-so took over and he sure do know how to waste time. My time. Horrible thing. I hope he won’t teach me again.

Going out with the girls tomorrow. God only knows when we will meet again. Most probably after the four weeks of S.E. Sigh.

Yawn. I’m sleepy. And where is Baka Neko? Is she finally back home from M’sia?

Still Living

June 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

Yes. I am still alive. It is just that nothing much happened during the past two weeks. Had lunch with the Gang on tuesday before two of the guys left yesterday for the orchestra’s Germany tour (!!!). Supposed to go out with Evan-chan today but she could not make it due to a last minute intervention by one of her subject teachers who decided to hold lessons today and tomorrow. How terrible. And we wanted to check out the PC Show at Suntec City!!! Damn. It started today and will end on Sunday. Dhav came over yesterday evening for a sleep-over and we wanted to have a drama/film marathon. Unfortunately, she fell asleep on my bed not even half way through the second film. Dots. Hence, I watched it alone and slept on the floor with a huge cushion and a towel blanket while she had the luxury of my bed and bolster. Somehow, I did not sleep much even though I often napped on the floor. Oh well…

What did we watch? 1. GTO Live Action and 2. Swing Girls. Yayyy! I like Swing Girls. Hopefully, I will be able to start a big band in KC one day. Yes. It is a dream. I shall dream away…

It is now 8.30p.m but my eyelids are shutting down on their own. Incredible. I shall turn in at 10p.m so as to be fresh and alert tomorrow morning during my third driving lesson. Yup. Already the third lesson and I hope I will not make any major mistakes unlike the last week which resulted in a very grumpy me after the lesson. Not that Uncle Tan scolded me or anything like that. I ought to get off my high horse and lower my self expectations. Yes, I know. It is shocking. Marie have ’self expectations’. Get over it.

Baka Neko is in Batam for a church retreat. Juls is busy practicing on her piano. Char… what is Char doing??? Only Dummer knows. Wonder when will the Gang ever get together again.

Food for thought: God is always faithful to us. It is us who are not always faithful to Him.
